Thanks! & a recommendation

Our open house today was a great success—thanks to everyone who stopped by. It was fun showing the fields to those of you who aren’t already a part of the CSA …

On a different note, another one of our CSA members forwarded an announcement about a reading at Powell that sounds right up our alley, and we thought it might be of interest to our readers in Portland and the surrounding area:

Jenny Kurzweil will be presenting from her book Fields That Dream: A Journey to the Roots of our Food on Thursday, July 20. She’ll be at the Portland Farmer’s Market on SE 20th from 5 – 6 pm and participating in a panel discussion at Powell’s from 7:30 – 9 pm.

The book comes with a recommendation from one of our heroes, Marion Nestle (author of Food Politics and Safe Food), so I’m sure it’s worth checking out, even if you can’t attend the events. I’m putting in on my reading list, anyway!

(Sigh. Kurzweil is also presenting at one of our most beloved bookstores in Bellingham too—now that makes me miss our old home … we’re still adjusting folks, but your smiling faces and the vegetables make it all worth it! Thanks for your support and appreciation!)

Thanks so much for posting about Jenny’s reading on your blog. She’ll be in McMinnville Wednesday and Thursday, and I’m hoping to drag her down to the market if we have time. In any case, I’ll get you guys a signed copy of the book for your library. It’s a great (and quick) read.
