Early fall sights on & around the farm!

Been awhile again … I guess this farming thing keeps us busy. With the shift in season, however, we felt it was time to update your mental imagery of the farm. Here are some recent shots of the fields, veggies & various visitors & friends.

From upper left to lower right: 1. One of our growing fall plantings. 2. A Marina di Chioggia pumpkin (an Italian heirloom — so cool looking!). 3. One of our youngest CSA members enjoying her first taste of broccoli! 4. A view of our house from our leek patch. 5. A cardoon wrapped up to blanche the ribbing (make it white & tender) — we’ll harvest it in about a month. 6. Pie pumpkin & other squash! 7. A beautiful sampling from our first sweet potato harvest. 8. Casey wading through one of our enormous fall broccoli plantings. Behind him are our Brussels sprouts and popcorn. 9. Mustard greens. 10. Our kitten Mokum vigilantly guarding our buttercup squash from mice! Go Mokum!
