This is it! Already! The final week of our 2013 Vegetable CSA pick-up … I can’t believe how fast it has flown by, perhaps part of the overall “speeding up” of our experience that comes with having two children to chase after.
As Thanksgiving approaches, we’re feeling as grateful as ever for our family and farm’s many, many blessings. Casey and I have been writing down some of our “gratitudes” over the last few days as we prepare to make our family’s annual winter card. It is lovely to use these quiet days at the end of the year to reflect on all that has passed. Each year brings both good and bad days, but as we eat our dinners by gentle candlelight and pause, it is the beauty of the past that comes rushing back in warm waves of memory. A gift of the dark, to gather together with our little family and savor such moments.
We wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful December, full of joyful celebrations, rest, family, friends, and delicious foods. Before we know it, January will arrive, and we will jump back into a new year and a new CSA season! If you haven’t signed up for our 2014 CSA season yet, now is the time! I will have a quick and easy sign-up form at pick-up tomorrow for the folks who need some nudging in the process. If you are planning to put in a Holiday Harvest order for next week (see below), then we get to see you one more time before the holidays!
But, for now, THANK YOU for another fabulous year of local eating! It’s hard to believe this is the end of our eighth CSA farming season, with our ninth coming up next year! As always, it is a blessing to do such satisfying work and to connect with you in this profound relationship between farmer and eater. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Enjoy this week’s vegetables!
Your farmers, Katie & Casey Kulla
