Dear fellow vegetable eaters and investors in these fields,
Despite our earlier attempts to decrease their populations, we have to admit our failure with the dreaded spotted cucumber beetle.

It is running rampant in the fields, nibbling holes in our chard, beet leaves, cucumbers, flower petals, etc etc etc. The time has come for us to do something BIG to salvage some of our plantings.
So, we’re having a special BUG PATROL workday this Monday, July 17, from 8 am – noon.
As the title suggests, we will primarily focus our energies on eliminating cucumber beetles (i.e. squishing them). I know it’s not glamorous. But everyone will thank you (especially us — and we’ll be working along side you the whole time). Good eyes and quick fingers would be helpful.
We only need four to five CSA members, so please email or call us if you’d like to come out. Hopefully some of you are up to the task!
Thank you,
Katie
P.S. If you’re already signed up for another day but would like to come out Monday, just let us know and we’ll make the change in our notes.
P.P.S. If you come out, remember to bring a hat, appropriate clothes, water, and a snack! It won’t be hard work, but you’ll probably appreciate being prepared for weather and hunger.
