Late spring activities on (& around) the farm

Descriptions, from top left to bottom right: 1. Casey harvesting arugula for last week’s CSA share. 2. The first small flower bouquet of the season—just enough to decorate our windowsill. 3. Our new kittens! Meet Nelson (on the L) & Mokum (on the R), named for our two favorite carrot varieties. (Our workshare volunteer Diane is holiding them here—we now have to have regular kitty holding time at the beginning of every work day!) 4. Last week’s CSA lettuce harvest piled into carts for transfer to wash station. 5. Casey washing radishes for the CSA share. 6. Red Fox bread at market—a staple of our diet year-round, but especially during the summer when we have less time to cook. Nothing better than a Big Green Salad & a slice of hearty bread! 7. A rapidly growing cardoon plant surrounded by inter-planted beets. 8. Katie checking out the progress of our fava bean planting. 9. Part of our market display from last week. 10. Our new baby chicks! We have 26 total of four different breeds, all of which are heavy breeds & brown egg layers.

Great pictures! What breeds of chickens do you have? Are those wyndottes? :) I love brown eggs, and green ones as well (Arucanas)

    Can’t wait until next week!
