Presenters: Casey & Katie Kulla, Oakhill Organics

Summer’s just beginning, but now is the time to plan your fall & winter vegetable garden! Join Casey & Katie Kulla of Oakhill Organics for a free two-hour workshop, in which they will share their experiential insights in growing and harvesting vegetables year-round on their Grand Island farm. Information will be presented at a level useful for the experienced gardener or production grower, but all are welcome. Topics covered will include:

  • the incentives to grow vegetables year-round
  • selecting cold hardy varieties
  • sowing and transplanting timing and tips
  • special winter cultural requirements and considerations
  • tools, helpful resources, & more.
  • A follow up field day will be held this winter at Casey and Katie’s farm, where participants will see production scale cold season growing in action and discuss further topics, including winter harvest challenges, pests, and marketing.
