McMinnville, here we come!

We’re leaving for Mac (that’s what the locals call it) tomorrow. We’ll be there for the next week or so, doing odd things associated with the farm and with relocating in general: picking up our beautiful Allis-G tractor from Corvallis (we’ll have to post more about this later), cleaning out the tool shed, buying soil amendments in Portland … we’ll also try to find an apartment or some place to live while doing all of this. Needless to say, finishing grad school, relocating, and starting a farm is a little overwhelming. I suppose this is a moment where “a day at a time” is absolutely true.

Since this is our last full day in Bellingham (except for a two brief stops to deal with thesis stuff), we’re beginning to reminisce about our seven years living here. Leaving is as difficult as we imagined it would be. We’re definitely excited about setting up Oakhill and living in Mac, but Bellingham has been good to us. It’s where we met, where we first worked on a farm, and so much more. And, this will be the first time that I (Katie) will have moved away from Washington State!

So much to think about, as always.
