Oakhill Organics 2010 CSA Survey

(To print this survey without printing the entire blog, click on the title above — “Oakhill Organics 2010 CSA Survey” — and then print.)

We still have many weeks left in the 2010 CSA season, which runs through mid-Dec. However, we’d like to pause for a moment and ask you a few very specific questions about your experience this year so far and pick your brain about some big proposed changes for our 2011 survey. This is a much longer survey than usual, so we recommend setting aside 15-20 minutes to fill it out. Your feedback is invaluable to us, so thank you for taking the time to provide thoughtful answers! (Hand deliver completed survey at pick-up site; or mail to Oakhill Organics, P.O. Box 1698, McMinnville, OR 97128.)

Questions about 2010 season so far:

1. What has been your experience with our new CSA pick-up location at the McMinnville market site in the granary district? (Check one)

__ Mostly positive
__ Mostly negative — Please explain:

2. Our two farm open houses so far have been relatively poorly attended. Why have you not attended an open house yet this year? (Check all that apply)

__ Conflict with my schedule
__ Not interested
__ Forgot — not enough notice/reminders
__ Planning to attend the pumpkin patch open house
__ Been to open house before and not interested in coming out again this year
__ Had negative experience at prior open house — Please explain:
__ Other reason:

3. What could we do to make our CSA farm open houses more enticing/fun for you and your family?

4. What has been especially positive for you about this year’s CSA season so far?

5. What could have been better for you about this year’s CSA season so far?

6. Do you have any other questions or comments for us about the season so far?

Questions about the upcoming 2011 season:

We’re planning some potentially big changes in 2011 and want your feedback as early as possible so we can continue working through what’s best for our CSA members. Thank you for carefully answering these questions.

1. We are strongly considering discontinuing the monthly payment plan. If we no longer offered the monthly payment plan, would you still be able to financially afford participating in our CSA? (Check one)

__ Yes, I would be able to afford being in the CSA without the monthly plan
__ No, I would not be able to afford being in the CSA without the monthly plan

2. Some CSA members have consistently voiced that they would like more choices in their weekly share contents and the option of purchasing a smaller share. In 2011, we’re thinking about radically altering our CSA system to accommodate both requests. Right now, these are just ideas, but we’d like to hear your thoughts.

If we implemented the changes, members would choose upfront a MEDIUM (~5 items/week) or a LARGE (~8 items/week) share. Each week, we’d bring 9-10 items to the pick-up, and members would then choose what they want based on the size of their share. So, if you have a medium share, you’d choose your five favorite veggies from our offering; and if you have a large share, you’d choose eight.

… Or, something along those lines. We’re still working out the logistics, but we’re curious what folks think about this idea. So, what do you think? (Check one)

__ I love it! More choices sounds great! Sign me up!
__ Not sure … but I’d probably go with whatever my farmers decide.
__ I’d prefer to stick with the current system.

3. If we did institute this new system of two share sizes and more vegetable choices, what size share do you think you would purchase? (Check one)

__ Medium share (~5 items/week)
__ Large share (~8 items/week)

4. To help us determine how to balance next year’s shares, please take the veggie preference survey on the bottom of this survey.

5. At this point, do you plan to join our CSA again next year? (Check one)

__ Yes! I LOVE Oakhill Organics CSA!
__ Still thinking it through. I have some concerns or reservations. — Please explain:
__ No, I will not be joining again in 2011. — Please explain:
