Snow, snow, snow!!!! (x 1,000,000,000)

Snow has come. Snow is leaving. Hoorah hoorah hoorah! I will update with the status of the farm shortly, but first I thought I’d upload a bunch of really pretty photos of our farm over the last two weeks. I would have shared these sooner except that we don’t have full internet access at the farm, and we’ve pretty much been stuck home during the duration of the snow. I kept thinking that each series of photos I took would be the last, but the snow just kept coming. The photos are posted in chronological order so that you can see the progression of the storm: from light snow with very cold weather to piles and piles of powdery snow and ice. Keep on eye on the alley between our greenhouses. Enjoy!

The first few days of the storm were bitterly cold and windy. Our low here was 13°. The first morning of snow and wind, our exterior door was frozen shut and the cat’s outside water dish was frozen solid in just a few hours. Yikes!

Some row covered vegetables, tucked in nice and snug by the snow.

It may be sunny in this photo, but the north wind was brutally cold.

Yes, in our concern for the upcoming cold weather, we even row covered a bed of leeks.

Cabbage in the early snow.

Greenhouses after first wave of snow.

Ack! More snow!

Our shed in the snow.

Casey on Saturday night, when we received more snow than any of the forecasts anticipated and everything in Portland shut down.

Still Saturday night.

Casey shoveling snow in front of our cozy house.

Greenhouses again.

After yet more snow.

Our chicken house way out in the snowy fields. They were troopers during the whole storm and are doing fine.

Another greenhouse photo. Have we mentioned that it snowed a lot here?

Casey skied in our front yard! He was bummed that we don’t have more pronounced hills though.

A sunset over the nursery crops across the street.
